    That’s great! You’ll be happy to know that your heroes – Thurston, Dole – stole the term “committee of safety” from the french. SO, while the french weren’t very adept at international conflict, they were masters at internal upheaval. I’m sure Thurston was quite attuned to that fact.

    Well the french stole it from the english, who used the term in 1692 :)

    The americans also used the term during the revolutionary war, although granted the french were aiding and abetting then :) .
